Melissa Brueckner, better known as Mel B in the volleyball world, is a Ventura County native. Born and raised in Camarillo, she attended Oaks Christian High School where she played volleyball all 4 years, and Moorpark College where she played 2 years and was voted 2015 Female Athlete of the Year. Melissa has been playing volleyball for 20 years and has 14 years of coaching experience at the club and high school level. Coach Mel is now the Head Coach at Villanova Prep in Ojai where she will oversee middle school and high school volleyball! She has come back to us after 5 years of head coaching and running a High School and Middle School program in Churubusco Indiana where she worked hard to build a name for their school and has many players now at the collegiate level.

Coach Mel focuses on developing kids, not only into great volleyball players, but also into respectable young adults on and off the court. She cares about them as an individual and wants to see each player succeed in all aspects of life. Coach Mel is so proud to be back in the Ventura County volleyball community and part of the Rise family to raise her 1 year old daughter, Mary, surrounded by those who matter most to her!
